How long should warm up take?
#1
I have a brand new Wolvy 350, I fired it up with the choke on halfway and let it run with the choke in that position for 5 minutes. Turned off the choke and it stalled out. So I gave it another few minutes on the half choke and it still died after I turned off the choke. It's 75 degrees out - how long should it take to warm up? I can probably get it to go if I turn off the choke and get on the gas, but I doubt that's good for the new engine. What do you think?

your idle may be set just a tad low, i know on my warrior i have to adjust it everytime i start it up, full warmup would probably take 20-25 mins at idle, i'd give it 5 mins to warm up enough to get the oil warm then start riding slowly(1/4 throttle) then after a little while you'll be able to tell it's warmed all the way up. it's fine to have the choke off and give it gas when it's cold.. just don't be WOT or reving it alot

Thanks for the advice, I'm going to start it up again this afternoon and see if I can get things adjusted. This is my first new ATV, in case you couldn't tell. I've ridden ATVs before, but all were much older and totally broken in

Yamaha puts a shipping/storage oil in the engines when there new. This needs to be burned out of the combustion chamber and tends to make the engine idle a little crappy at first. After about 100 miles this will improve, but the idle is probably set a little low as well.

Something is not right. If it's still under warrenty take it in. It should'nt even need choking this time of year. Clogged jet or bad gas in the tank from sitting at the dealer.
