Default No neutral? No neutral light?

I don't know guys but when I flip the key switch the neutral light doesn't come on! The only way I can start it is with the clutch pulled in. My quad like thinks it's in 1st gear or something. I kept kicking it back up to neutral but no light! If I keep turning it on like that is it bad? Also is I expensive to fix? I don't think anything is actually broken I think something might have slipped, I just need to know where to look. What happened was when I drove it into my shed I hit it along the side of the opening of the door and it skid it then just shut off! I am like 90% sure something just slipped or fell off, I just don't know where to look for it.

Well it wasn't off but it was a little dirty and little loose. THe thing is though when I put it into "neutral" I still can't roll it as if it is still in gear. So maybe it is in gear and I'm simply not putting it into neutral? A buddy of mine said to pull it back and forth and to keep kicking the shifter down a speed until I'm to Neutral.

get on level ground, put it all the way down.. then bring it up VERY slowly until you feel it softly click.. it's tricky... have to have a knack for it of you'll have trouble... all the way down is 1st gear... pushing it forward and back will help the transmission see a zero load and help it shift VERY easily(by hand) if u have a problem shifting you may want to get a yz250 shifter( i beleive it is)

Yeah mine is a pretty fresh one, year 2000. I figured out the problem... it was so stupid.
