Default Battery connected backwards

Hey everyone, i had battery off and charging, wife put it on while i was at work. She put wires on wrong side. She said it would just hum when she pressed starter. I fixed the wires and now I have an atv that misses, spits and sputters and backfires when you give it the gas. Its a 96' Polaris 425 magnum. What electrical damage could this do? any help appreciated??????
Thanks, GH

By her some flowers and let her know you realize it was really your fault and how wrong you were for not thinking this might happen. Take the advice of 45 yrs. of marriage and you'll lessen your stress level.

Ps.

Also offer to talk about your feelings.

Yes it ran great before. I have already replaced starter silenoid and ignition coil with no improvement at all. I've got a repair manual and will try to test each electrical part 1 at a time. Then start replacing each part till i get it fixed. Thats an expensive route to take though. Thanks Again, GH

I'm guessing it's the CDI box. CDI stands for capacitor discharge ignition. I'm pretty sure that capacitors don't like reverse polarity. Anyone else know more about this??

The rectifiers don't like reverse polarity either.................I don't know if that included with another unit..Example,,.......CDI,ECM,or PDM..........Whatever you may have on that year and make, I am not too sure!!!.............Caper............
