IMO.....The renegade 800 is the best of both worlds. Everyone that gets one, their first ride on one just raves about it. But they are 800's. I'm pretty sure you would kick yourself if you got the 500 instead of the 800. IMO.....the 500's are for people who don't know how to ride or have always ridden a small bore bike, power might scare them.

Just traded my scrambler 500 to the renegade 500 last Friday and rode this weekend. I can't say enough good things about this quad. My buddy rides the rene 800, so I knew what I was hoping to get and I got it! All the stability and features of the 800 with a few less pounds and ponies. I will let ya know if I have any troubles with it, but for the initial impression, 2 thumbs up!!

i wouldnt say its a beginners quad by any means, if i was going to get one id get the 500 over the 800 just for the price alone, plus a 500cc machine can do everything an 800 can do, just maybe not as fast lol, thats why i got the polaris sportsman 500 over the 800, lil overkill to me

I dont think its really that much slower than the 800...maybe a few mph but not much.

STOP!!! don't do it
I bought the renegade 500 rode it for 1 day!! it is an awesome machine but it just didnt have the low end pull that i was looking for or need. I'm 265 pounds so I needed something to pull hard from a dead stop. I brought the Renegade 500 back to the dealer and upgraded to the Renegade 800X!
Man this bike rules it does every thing right, right out of the box but when you set up suspension it just AWESOME PERIOD. Youll kick yourself for not getting a more powerfull machine from the begining. if you buy the 800X all youll need is a few skid plates and your DONE!!
Don't make the same mistake I did. that 1 day ride cost me $700.00 allso expect to pay full MSRP most dealers are not budging from this price because they don't have to. the bike will sell at $10,199.00, believe that.
2 weeks ago i took it out for the first time with about 30 other riders they all were stunned at this bike and they all read up on it so they were saying things like awesome, sick, Xtreme, etc. You wont be disapointed.

I'm not going to argue that the 500 is better than the 800- that's pointless! I will say that the 500 renegade is the best 500cc sport/ute out there though! I have had mine for about 2 months now and don't regret it at all. My friend rides the 800 renegade, and sure he could outrun me on a straight, but how often do you find yourself on long straights in the woods? On the trails, the 500 can go anywhere and climb anything the 800 can and is a lot easier on the wallet!

OH and b.parker - get the skids on that thing as quick as you can.

Thats the reason I buy big bore's. at 240 lb's I need the power + I like to be faster than the other guy i'm racing if possible.
