Default shutting down with headlights on

ok , seems i read a lot of guys are having this trouble , my 03 700 works great with headlights off , turn em on and trouble starts , the engine dies after several minutes , i lose all power then after 15 secs or so the lights come back on and you can start it back up , there is no trouble if headlights are off , so something is overheating the relay and causing this to happen , anyone out there solve this similar problem .....please

well I had this trouble on my 2006 Sp 450............My needed the ECM, Or PDM replaced.............There are two built in circuit breakers in there that when over-load is present..........It will shut the quad off to prevent any damage to the wiring!!..........Not sure what the 03 700 has .......But this was my story............

Also mine shut the quad off as soon as the headlights were turned on!!!!!!!!........No delay...Caper...............................

It sounds like the battery I would bet if you load test it or do a specific gravity check you will find out that a new battery will cure your problem.

well , bike never has any trouble with battery , although it is the original battery in it , has lot's of power , will get a load test done on it , and maybe one of the relay's under headlight cover is bad , will have to check them as well (somehow)

You have a bad circuit breaker, look for the black plastic sealed bags. The corroded breaker's inside, go to the local auto parts and get a new one for 5 bucks or so....

The breaker protects the electrical system from shorts or overloads like a fuse only the breaker resets after cooling down. Corrosion inside the breaker is causing high resistance and heat build up to the point with the lights on it opens and cuts power flow to all components that are connected through it. I had the same problem on my Predator.....
