Default 400ex carb problem Pleaz help.

After cleaning the carb, it started fine, but it idled really high. So i adjusted the idle, but when i wanted to move, it would only move if the choke was all the way on. Then it didn't want to start at all. what can the problem be?? Thanks.

Not following you. What do you mean it would only move if the choke was all the way on? What was it doing?

Guessing you didn't put the carb back together properly. Take it back off and go thru it again.

The atv would start driving only if the choke was on. All i took off was the cover covering the float bowl, but i didn't touch anything inside. Also, the throttle cable was disconnected.

Check the boots on both sides of the carb. Make sure it sealed off and didn't rip. Make sure there is no gas leaking from the carb to make sure your gasket sealed.

You are getting to much air for the amount of fuel, and that is why the choke helps (it cuts down on the amount of air).

So, you have one of two problems. There may be a leak in the air intake. Look for an improperly installed air filter, or a leak in the boot between the airbox and the carb.

The more likely possibility is that you just didn't do a really good job of cleaning the jets. Clogged jets would cut down on the fuel, and the choke would cut down on the amount of air, so that would get you back to the right mixture. Most folks, when they clean a carb, just spray some cleaner in there and call it good. You need to take the jets out and inspect and clean them (both the main and idle).
