hawkeye valve adjustment

Default hawkeye valve adjustment

[img]i/expressions/beer.gif[/img] can anyone tell what the valve setting's is on 2006 hawkeye and the right way to peform this adjustment

Default hawkeye valve adjustment

I know on the '07 the intake and exhaust are set to .006". I'm sure the '06 is the same. You remove the valve/cam cover, loosen the locking nut on the adjustment stud on the end of each rocker arm, and set the clearance using a feeler gauge. While holding the adjustment stud so it can't turn you tighten the locking stud. It actually takes more time to remove/replace the cover than it takes to set the valves.

I believe it took a 5mm and 6mm wrench to set the valve clearance.

do i remove the plug on th right side and find the t mark {this would be top dead center compresion stoke}

Default hawkeye valve adjustment

The manual states to make sure the cam lobes are pointing down. Really no need to be exactly at TDC, just that the valves are fully closed.

I just removed the spark plug, and used the recoil starter to turn the engine over until the cam lobes were down.
