Exhaust bolts on block

Default Exhaust bolts on block

I took off my exhaust pipe from the block and one of the studs came out instead of nut coming off. all the nuts just came off on other 3.is this normal? if not any ideas for making it stay in block? thanks for input

If the stud wasn't bottomed out into the block and there was some crud on the threads then ya it's normal. When it goes back together put the stud in with 2 nuts on it to tighten it in and then put your exhaust and nuts on. When I do exhaust manifolds at work, I pray for the studs to come out with the nuts so I don't have to pull the studs out after.

Don't all the FORD studs break off at the block!!!........Caper..........

Ya most of them LOL But usually only the back 2 on the right hand side for some reason LOL
