Help for 700 Griz tires and shocks

Default Help for 700 Griz tires and shocks

I am 57 years old and big. I have a new 700 Griz and wondered how can I set up this quad to be more stable for me. What tires, replacement shocks, or merely adjusting the stock shocks, will help? I know nothing about setinng up my quad to not be quite so tipsy. Thanks

Check out the AC thread regarding making the AC more stable...great post. Also, search this forum - i think people are setting the front shock at the softest setting and the rear at #3 or middle setting. Increase front tire to 8 lbs and runing the back at 5lbs. if you go aftermarket wheels - you will gain 1" - 2" per corner....call these guys - they should be able to tell you how much width you'll gain. i personnally bought some aftermarket wheels and love the additional width for stability. http://www.kgmotorcycletires.c...co_swamp_lite_kits.htm

Thanks, but what setting is soft? My ATV is set the way it came from the factory?

turn the preload adjuster all the way to the left...this is the softest setting. you can buy a spanner wrench to do this - i used a large channel lock plyer

Your stock 25" tires are 8" and 10" wide front to rear. Adding wider tires will help. I added 26" ITP Mudlites to my Grizzly. The 26" Mudlites are not only taller than the stock tires (more ground clearance) but wider. They are 10" and 12" wide front to back. That means more contact with the ground and more stability. Adjusting your shocks will help as well. Firming them up will decrease body role. Adjust them one notch at a time and test them out. Stop when it feels right.

Kurt hit the nail on the head. I'll guarantee if your running stock tires the tippy feeling your experiencing is tire roll under. The tire pressures and shock setting he gave you are exactly what I ran in mine. 7.5-8.5 psi front 5-6ps back with front shock preloads on softest and rears on 3. Factory settings are tire psi at 5lbs and shock preloads set at 2 for all 4. I'll bet just taking your front tire psi up to 8lbs will make an absolutely amazing difference.
