2001 Trail Boss 325 Hot Light
#1
As soon as it starts the hot light is on. It is an intermittant thing. Comes and goes.
Sometimes it won't happen until 10 minutes of riding but it always happens, eventually.
I am fairly certain that it isn't overheating, due to the fact that it usually happens at start up.
A little history.
This all started immediately following my son riding through an enormous snow drift and freezing the bike solid. It remained frozen solid for a good week before I realized it and moved it to the heated garage and let it thaw. (it was parked in the barn). Not sure if that could have anything to do with it but it seemed logical.
I have narrowed down what I think it is to the Thermistor.
Is this a user replaceable part? Finding one is the other issue.
Any suggestions?
Replace the thermistor? Don't replace it....
Another question is why will the chain on this thing NOT stay tight?
Hell of a first post I know.

is tis a single wire to the sensor that grounds it? just thinking if it is maybe the sensor is gone bad and causing the light to stay on. not sure w/out a book to check . just an idear. chain- maybe cam is worn where is rotates in the housing and wont hold the it, or loose bolts??
