2000 Magnum 325 4x4 - Need help real quick
#1
If anybody has a manual or spec sheet for this atv could you tell me:
Compression Pressure
Valve clearances
Spark plug clearance
That would be much appreciated! I just purchased this thing. It seems to idle, but when I attempted to give it gas it started making a knocking noise and is having a hard time restarting. Going to start with the usual of dumping the gas for fresh, checking spark plug, valve clearances, etc.

Plug gap is .028, the valve clearance (going by my 00 Trail Boss) should be .006 for intake and exhaust. (cold)
Not sure about the compression.

Scooter thanks for help! Is the .028 for the Trail Boss? After posting orginaly, I went to Polaris's website and was able to download a user manual pdf file for a 2000 Magnum 325 4x4 and it has the spark plug gab at .036 inches. Of course nothing on the valve clearances. But .06 does seem to be a typical clearance.

Hmmm, it also says that the Trail Boss is a 324cc 2 stroke.

Hmm interesting. Maybe it has to do with the engine model number. I noticed in your pdf you posted, it shows a .028 gap for a ES32PFE01 model and in my Owners manual supplement it shows a .036 with engine model # ES32PFE05. LOL.

2000 was the year they changed from the 250 2 stroke to the 325 4 stroke. I guess some of the 99 models must have been made a little late.

Yea I got the feeling that they must have changed something since there was a supplement for that year. I spoke with a mechanic friend that works mostly on motorcycles but occasionally on quads and he saids he makes all his 4-stroke engine gaps .032 and they run great, lol.

I was gonna say, Autozone could tell you the gap. But splitting the difference will work too.
I'll try to remember to look in my manual tonight too. If it has the compression, I'll post that too.
