Default Make your own wheel spacers?

I just got my raptor 350, and I am wanting to make the it a little bit wider, nothing crazy, that would make it impossible to get through trails, but i was thinking like 1" on each side, so a total of 2" additional width.

Now the harder question, does anyone have a material/how to list, to make your own wheel spacers? I am taking a metals class in school, and I think if I bought the materials and stayed after school, my teacher would let me make them, My question is, where do I begin? What types of tools would i need?

I thought a wheel spacer was just something that screwed onto the each bolt on the hub and kicked the tire out 1" or whatever the length of the spacer is.

But going 3" will this make a big difference in the maneuvering of my quad? Especially through trails?

what are extended wheel extensions or ebay stres?

I still might try to make my own, cuz it would be cheaper still.

Anybody know how to do do this? Could i just make a really big washer type thing?
