My Front left hub will not lock in like it is supposed to. I noticed it stopped spinning while I was in the mud a couple weeks ago. Last weekend I ran it with the tires off of the ground, it kicked it when the wheeler hit about 20 m.p.h. I pulled the hub apart and everything looks fine in there. All bearings look good. Any idea what my problem might be? I have a 96 sp 500

yeah there is power. The 4 wheel drive wont engage until high speeds. Once its engaged it will stay engaged. It also has a tough time disengaging. (have to put in neutral or reverse and run for a while to disengage) the good side engages at idle and disengages when 4WD button is off.

Make sure the plate in the hub is not warped. it needs to be perfectly straight

I think that may be the problem. I noticed it was a little wore on the magnet side. I am in school and only go home on weekends, so I will have to check it out this weekend! thanks!

yeah I will check that out, it wasnt too worn down. The "ears" looked good and everything but the back side looked a little worn out, the black coating/paint was worn off and I can feel a rough edge with my fingernail. I really hope thats it! I can hole the armature close and push the button and the magnet pulls the armature tight...
