Default 2001 Scrambler 500 4x4 dies after warm up

After getting my scrambler stuck in mud and using the winch to pull it about
50 feet under a HEAVY load ( left the machine running while winching )
the engine loses power during warm up then dies.
It will not restart until it cools off for a short period of time the restarts
and does the same thing.
I suspect I may have overheated the stator assy and when it get hot it
shorts out due to running the heavy load of the winch.
Anyone ever have this problem ?

Maybe put a voltmeter on the battery and see if the voltage drops off when it gets hot. It might lead you to a problem. See if you have spark too. Maybe check the vent on the fuel tank to see if it's plugged with mud, or pull the fuel cap off when it's losing power and see if that helps. Do a little digging and you should find something
