Engine trouble
#1
I have a 2003 polaris 700 twin. The motor vibrates so bad it keeps wearing out the exhaust socket gasket. It will only idle with the choke on a little. When it dies it will start right back up. And it will backfire after being reved up. Also the exhaust manafold will become cherry red at times. The machine still has plenty of power. I have talked with two mechanics and have two different answers. 1. the rings are shot and 2. The jets are pluged
Can anyone help
Thanks

Number two is correct. Or let me say your real lean for some reason. Could be a plugged jet, could be a bad carb boot..................Could be lots of things.............but your lean.

Check your motor mounts(especially the lower front) Put a pry bar under the motor and lift up. See if the metal and rubber have separated.
Check the intake boot for cracks(happens a lot) like Doctorturbo said.
