Okay guys, regarding the 800 Deluxe and 800 Stealth and the differences in the exhausts of some of them (short Y-pipe header pipe vs. long 2-into-1 header pipe, and single muffler vs. dual mufflers), this is my question:

Is there separate fuel mapping and/or ignition curves between the different models/exhaust configurations?

My Deluxe came with long 2-into-1 header pipes and dual mufflers, I have since put on a single muffler. I just want to know if the ECM can or should be flashed (if there is such a thing) for the change so I can get better power, etc.

TIA!!!

On a positive note, my car has been broken down for the last few days and won't get fixed until Friday, so I've been riding the 800 back and forth to work.

not sure but i think it would alright the way it is. if anything it might run a little richer but since its not a true dual set up i dont think there would be any power differnce.

Do all EFI systems compensate for altitude, temperature, and air density so as to always run at the proper air/fuel ratio? My 800 runs great, just as it did with the dual mufflers.......I guess I'm just wondering if the EFI system will automatically adjust for the change or if it needs to be reflashed.

BTW, the parts and service manager at my dealership never heard of reflashing the ECM, which I'm sure I've read here that various models needed to be reflashed for high altitude operation and improper settings from the factory.

Your bike will not compensate for it. It would need an 02 senser in the exhaust to tell the computer if it is running rich or lean. The dealer should be able to reflash if needed.

When you go into diag mode in the pod it will say V2.5 or something. My buds 500 is a month newer than mine. Mine is V2.5 and his is V2.6 so there is definitly differant programming in the bikes.

this is kinda why i held off in doing a key way change because the 08's arent like 06's and didnt want to lean it out or put it on the edge by advancing the timing more.

You should be OK with a timing change. The computer won't know when the plug is supposed to fire, just that it does. What's differant from the 06 Sten??

Well if you do it just be sure to listen and see if it pings. You might have to run high test thru it if it does.

Ya you probably don't need any more power with the 9% increases anyways
