Ok guys, I just bought a 96 polaris magnum 425, I have a loud popping sound comming from the left front end of the bike when a load is applied in 4x4. What could this sound be? The bike new to me so I dont really know how to diagnose the problem. It sounds like the chain maybe jumping teeth but I have no idea at all... Anyone have any advice on how to troubleshoot this problem. All input is greatly appreciated!

 

probably needs new chains and sprockets your gonna have to check the sprockets and chain or it could be a bad cv joint

 

if it's not engaging when u put a load on it right away, but then it pops and it engages, then it could be the magnets inside the hilliard clutch

 

what do the magnets do inside the hillard clutch? are they hard to change? is this a common problem?

 

Ok, after further inspection I found that larger of the front sprockets is missing 2 teeth in succession. I guess the chain is slipping at this point therefore causing the sound.

How hard is it to change all these front sprockets and chains. How much of the bike do I have to remove to get to these parts.

Please help..

 

dont know i had all mine done at a shop it was very pricey.
