i was out riding today and the tranny was shifting just fine. was going over some wash out places and got stopped by the guy infront of me. well that caused my machine to get stuck. went to go forward and it didnt want to go. tried to put it in reverse and it didnt was to shift. so i pulled the bike backwards then tried to shift...went into reverse just fine.. and i guess it decided it likes reverse because it wont shift into forward anymore. will shift into neutral.. kinda tricky but it will go. any ideas as to what went wrong? i took the adjustment rod from the shifter to the bellcrank loose..still couldnt get it to shift so im thinking something internally went wrong.
any ideas?

 

You have to pull it out anyway take it aprt and see what is wrong.It may be cheaper to fix than replace

 

sounds like the belt was just slipping at first...but it nto goin back into drive is weird. Something is probably bound up in ur tranny

 

the chain has stretched so much that by the time it gets around to the bottom of the gear it wouldnt even mesh up with the big gear. it finally just came off the gears. dont see any wear on either of the gears so im just gonna replace the chain
