Default ATV racing

My son has been riding a Kazuma 110 quad for about a year. He wants to get into racing quads. I know that his quad just even come close to running up front. Anyone out there let there kids race? If so how what kind of quad would be the best to get started on? and also any idea how much it costs to get into? Also if a 12 year old can only ride a 90cc max (as far as the feds go, on trails) is there any limits on the track?

To sum it up,,,,,BIG BUCKS!!!! But the smiles are worth every penny.
Machine:This depends on your childs size. Most 12 yr olds are ready to step up to a bigger machine. IF your rider has enough expierience and the body size, I'd recommend a 300ex.
ALTHO, You need to check out the local races. Some will let a 12 yr old race a 300. AMA santioned tracks will not. They have a 13-15 yr old class for the 300's.
OK, you rider is small and needs another mini. The DRR/DRX machines are good and the most race ready machine plus fast out of the box.. Apex,Dinli,Kasea, etc run well.

Costs:: Safety equipment. ie: nerf bars, boots, riding apparel, helmet, goggles, and a tether killl switch.
The 300 is the cheapest option for a starter. As the above will get him going just fine. Approx 4k with the goodies.
The Mini's will demand some motor work, this, that, and mostly shocks. Machine will be 2k+ and another 2k+ in mods.
I won't go into the Cobra machine as I don't think you want to start out with a 8k+ machine.
Race fee's:: Usually 10-15 to get in the track and 15-40 to race.

It all depends on what kind of racing you want to do..If your just racing at a local track all you need is the safety gear for your child and you may not even be permitted to do any performance mods to your atv..Usually a tether switch is required and you can likely add wheel spacers or do some suspension mods....This is a good way to start out to see if you like it or not...If your racing at a national level its very expensive.
