I am abought to ditch my scrambler for a rubicon, and I will be imediatly puting a winch on it. The dealer says that he will give me the infamous "prefered customer discount",and i need to know if the price he gives me is worth while or if i should just get one aftermarket. I am thinking a waren 2000 would be fine. Thanks.

Here is my $.02 worth. A 2000 lb capacity should be sufficient (Superwich also makes 1500 lb and 1000 lb versions). Rule winches are supposed to be the best in this class, and you will pay dearly to have one ($400.00 plus). Warn is supposed to be good also and I have seen them for around $285.00. The third option is a Superwinch ATV2000. It offers 50' of cable, a braking system and waterproof housing. I have seen it for $169.99. I have owned the T1500 Superwinch along with a couple of friends, and none of us ever had a complaint about them. I am going with the Superwinch ATV2000 because it will probably last longer than I own the Rubicon and I will leave it on the quad when I sell it. To me the extra money I will save can be spent towards tires, or other accessories.

I know you can get a warn 2500 for about $325-$350 and it comes with the roller fairlead. Whats nice is you get the remote switch which I prefere over the handle bar mounted. and you get all the pulling power you should ever need.

my .02 worth

We have 2 Rubicons in our club. One Ruby has a Warn 2000 & the other the 2500. Both are very capable & sufficient.

I guess its a matter of choice both will do a fine job. On a side note I am looking for a Warn 2000 for my Rancher. The Rancher weight about 540 pounds thats only 60 less than the Rubicon.

YOu could always get a ****** block & that will double your pulling power.

My Warn 2000 has worked well on my Rancher 2x4. I've got no complaints, and although it's not advertised as waterproof, which I think the Rule may be, my Warn has worked after being submerged repeatedly. I do hit it with plenty of WD-40 after washing it down.

The Warn A2000 and A2500 have the same motors and gearing... the only difference is the A2500 has a remote control that allows you to be up to 12' from the ATV to control it. You can upgrade to the A2500 from the A2000 with a kit that includes the 12' remote control and new solenoid. Either will offer plenty of pull for your Ruby, though.

I have the 1500 Superwinch on my Ruby and I have no complaints. It has pulled myself and a buddy out of the mud several times with out any trouble, and it has also been completely submerged several times as well with no problems.
Works well on my Moose snow plow as well, good luck.

I just put the Warn2000 on my Rubicon, and the CycleCountry mounting plate also include the roller fairlead. There's not supposed to be a big difference between the 2000 & 2500 (other than remote switch), and you're more limited by the power of the small ATV battery. My 2000 works just fine....
