Default 02 500 auto carb mod

Hello All,

First time posting here. For many years, i had been using the 02 500 for plowing a 3/4 mile long driveway. While the cat plowed decently, it seemed to lack the power it should have. Well, the carb needed some attention last week in the form a tear-down, thorough cleaning and a fuel filter. Looking into the re-jet kits, i could not justify the expense. So, I went to the dealer, ordered a 150 main ($5.00) (stock # was 148) along with a new master cylinder...hmmm, brakes would be nice. The slide needle is fixed posistion, so I raised it .060" with a small washer to simulate a lower clip position. The idle mix needed to be turned out 1/2 turn.

The results.....spark plug is a nice lite coffee brown/tan. Power...definitely more. With me onboard 300#, chainsaw (model 61 rancher) in the front basket, and a winch, mash the throttle in 2wd, the front end lifted the tires by about 3". Yup, at first I thought it was the suspension topping out, so I asked my wife to watch....it lofted the tires 3" on subsequent runs.

For about $20 in parts (jet, gaskets, diaphram), the cat has awoke.

airbox is stock, with the stock filter. Well, I do have some Bounce fabric sheets in the box to keep the mice out.

Do a search for "Air-Jetting" will give you more HP and better gas mileage for about $6.00. I also posted links for some pictures of the completed install.
