96 xplorer locking hubs problem
#1
Hi, it's happen the last 3 times i've taken out the bike, the pushbutton is activated for 4X4, but the front wheels aren't spinning but if I put in reverse and hold my reverse button in the 4x4 is working..put it in forward front wheels won't lock, only in reverse.
Now after about 5 min, the front 4x4 kicks in. then i'm good after that.
Any suggestion on what I should look at? does the cold affect the locking?
THANKS
Sbishop

Check your battery voltage, sounds like the bat. is low when you first start, then charges up. How cold is the machine? Is it sitting outside? I;bve never had the cold effect the 4-wheel drive but anything is possible. Try changing the oil in the hubs , use polaris hub drive fluid.

its about -20c here, it's in a unheated/uninsulated garage. so yes its cold. The battery is new but that doesn't mean anything I guess, i'll put the charger on it and test next time. but the weird part is it works in reverse!
I might try changing out the hub fluid too!
thanks

Does the AWD light up when you put the gearshift in forward? If it doesn't, push forward on the lever(like trying to push it past high gear) and see if the light comes on. If it does while pushing "Past" you need a gear selector switch installed.
