03 Sporty 600 Twin Backfire in Reverse only!?!?!
#1
The other night I was plowing the driveway and I noticed a few times that when I was Backing up after pushing a pile, my machine would backfire. IT only does it in reverse. Anyone ever hear / experience this?

im assuming you had the override pushed in since you was plowing. is it the same kinf of backfirng/missing that you get when you dont push the override and the limiter kicks in. just wondering if the override is starting to mess up. the only other thing it can be its running to lean. just a thought.

If you release the override button prior to the engine speed coming all the way back down to idle the engine will backfire. The system while the button is pushed is operating normally dumping the regular amount of fuel into the combustion chamber, when the button is released the ignition system "retards" and causes abnormal spark hence limiting speed in reverse and causing intermittent backfires.
It will not cause a problem.
