Default 2000-300 oil leak at base of cylindar head

I am getting oil leaking(small amount) at the base of the cylinder head around where the exhaust pipe comes out. It is just enough to drip on the exhaust and smell and a little puff of smoke everytime. Can someone tell me is there a gasket there or should oil even be getting there? This is on a 2000 ac 300 4X4.

Yes, there is a gasket there, PN# 3402-248 on Alpha-sports.com. The oil in that area is crank case oil that is ported th the cylinder head to lubricate the valvetrain. Changing the gasket shouldn't be too bad to do, just keep your timing chain from moving, and make sure it is in the same spot on your cam sprocket when you reinstall, or bad things can happen. I hope this helps

Just make sure your piston is top dead center and the cam loabs are facing down and there are 2 little marks on the chain gear they have to be even with the top of cylinder.
