Last Weekend I was out at a local place, riding my 99 Banshee with FMF Fatty pipes, Power Core 2 silencers, K&N filter with holes drilled in airbox lid. I met up with some other guys from this forum...one had a stock banshee except for shredder tires...and another guy had a banshee with toomey's and no airbox lid...We had a drag race that was about 300 yards long...my banshee was a little ahead (1/2 bike length) of the stock banshee and the guy with the toomeys beat me by about 2 bike lengths...My question is this...Am I jetted right? I have 270 mains and the stock 25 pilots. Also could it be that I was spinning my stock tires on the take off? Or could it be that I weighed about 100 pounds more than the other riders due to the amount of mud caked all over my machine. Would all that mud make me that much slower? I also raced a dirtbike...a yz426 and he beat me by about 1 bike length!!!I guess thats not to bad. Should I change jet sizes??? I ride at about sea level!

Power to weight is important. Ditch the lid and go with 300 mains and 34 pilots if you want to win drag races.

I see you guys waited to drag race until after I left huh! I talked to Duane the one with the Toomeys. Told him to junk the lid probably fatten the main another size, and where to set his air screw at. He said it ran better with the lid off. I thought I was never going to get all the mud washed off of the banshee when I got home. JIGA said he was out there. I never saw him though.

I have FMF Fattys, Pro design filter, and I removed the snorkel, I was running 270 mains. It seemed like it kinda of dropped off on the top end. I rejetted and it ran like a different machine.

I'm not sure about your quad but the guy with the toomeys should have been more than three and a half Bike lenths ahead of an stock bike.

hey mgrigsby22~
Yes, all that extra weight will definitely cause a drastic change in acceleration! Just look at a Scrambler...it's does have close to the power of a stock banshee, but it's also got an extra 100 pounds to carry around! And both you and I know the scrambler isn't going to touch a banshee in a drag race! But once the scrambler is highly modified, it will take a good running modified banshee to beat it...even on top end!

I was there Jen, check out the pics section and you will see Duane and his Banshee, I think Mgrisby left before we took the pics.

I dont know why or how the race was so close but it was fun. All I have on my shee is the razr rears and was starting out in 1st gear opposed to them 2 starting out in 2nd, very very close race and Duane's toomey shee was about 2 lengths ahead.

Maybe we can all meet up again for a ride, I do remember Duane saying he talked to a girl about his pipe/jetting problem that day and she did tell him to take off the air box lid, it ran fine after that.

I started another thread in the where to ride section about riding next weekend if some of you Texas riders would like to.
