Default Anyone out there own a Grizzly 125?

I'm looking at a Griz 125 for my son and just wanted to see what others thought. Any input would be appreciated.

My girls love it. You may want to look into getting a bigger countershaft sproket, so it can go faster, but otherwise is just the old Breeze, with new bodywork. Been around a long time.
If your thinking of trail rides, or if hes kind of heavy, you might want to step up to a 250cc machine, they have better suspension. But for a first quad, and buying used...you should get most all your money back when you sell.

The Good ole Breeze/Grizzly just won't be beaten in the 125cc class. It's been around so long and has had zero updates in about 20 years apart from new plastics. The other manufacturers can't be that woprried about the 125 market as they could easily make something better. It needs front disk brakes. That's one thing they should have done on it ages ago.

It's ultra reliable, (albeit some tappet adjustments from time to time) and reasonably fun to ride.

It's not a Trail quad (Get a 250 with gears) but more of a flat track bike.

Over priced IMO but it has the market cornered so Yam can pretty much charge what they want for it.

How old and how big is your son. It worked very well for my son until he outgrew it. For the most part it went everywhere we went. We took it to Pismo, on trails and roads. If you are not going to do extreme riding with it you should be fine.

I couldn't agree more. I think it's funny that the Kawasaki Bayou 250 has a lower MSRP than the Yamaha Grizzly 125. The Bayou is only slightly larger and has more power to grow into. You could put a governor on it at 1st until the kid gets used to the power. You just get a lot more bang for your buck with the 250.
