The Reverse limiter box is probably bad. Unhook the black wire and it will stop doing that. It will also haul a$$ in reverse so be carefull.

if its fine when the button is pushed, then the limiter switch is bad like harley said.

i looked in the handle bar controls and the gear selector wires and none of them are black, is it somewhere else or possibly a different color?

it should be mounted to the tranny.

It's not on the tranny. Take the front rack and cover off. There is a regualator and the other is the limiter. The limiter should have a black, green, yellow and white wire(if memory serves) Remove the black wire, tape it up so it ccan't ground out and put it back together.
