Default Swapping out a 400 with a 500

Anybody know if you can swap out a 400 with a 500 on a 1995 Xplorer/Sportsman with a 500 from a 97 Xplorer/Sportsman? And if so what would be involved? Since both are water cooled, I am assuming it would be a huge deal, but are the wiring looms , CDI, Rectifier, transmission mounting face, etc... all the same? Hoping to get some help.... THanks Mike

Default Swapping out a 400 with a 500

from what ive been able to tell by pictures the 250 (two stroke air cooled) is a direct bolt in with the 300. the 350 (two stroke, water cooled) is a direct bolt in with the 400. also it looks like it wouldnt be too dificult to swap a liquid for a air cooled two stroke engine with minor mods to engine mounts. it does look like (by pictures) the 500 (four stroke) would be an easier swap in the 400 chassis than me swaping a 325 (four stroke) in my 400 chassis. confused yet....

i got a scrambler 4X4 chassis for free. i also got a 325 engine i was going to put in a gokart, then changed my mind and wanted to put it in the 4X4 chassis to plow snow in the winter. kind of make some sort of a utility 4X4 for around the farm. it seems more practible using a four stroke to do this....

BTW all above units are PRE concentric drive
