Default AUTO TRANS STUCK IN LOW GEAR

I have a Polaris explorer 400. I was plow snow here in utah, and high, low and reverse worked just fine. I got off my machine to spread some ice melt got back on the machine and it is now stuck in low gear. I pulled the transmission dipstick and all my transmission fluid started to just pour out. The shifter lever is in the nuetral position but it won't move up or down if i want to get into the forward high gear. The machine will move as if were it the forward low gear. It is just stuck or lock in that low gear and doesn't want to dis-engage. Need help if anyone would have the slightest clue on what is going on.

thanks

Rad

my sportsman 500 did something like that once. it was stuck in reverse. i think, as i can't quite remember, i disconnected the linkage rods and then it was unjammed. i would start by checking the rods going from your shifter to the gear case. i sure someone on here can give you a more accurate diagnosis to what your problem is.

Most of the time it is inside the shifter that is messed up.Unhook the rods from the tranny and see if you can shift it by hand with a pair of pliers. If you can take the shifter off, take the top off the shifter and see if it is dry or has oil in it.they need about 3-4 oz of 10w40 oil in it.If it has beed dry you may need to take the parts out clean them and replace broken ones.Watch out for the small ***** and springs.
