14 year old rider - should get a banshee or yfz 450
im 14 month from being 15 but i got my 07 shee when i was 13 and it was my first manual quad
i your fat get a yfz if your in shape get a banshee
if you dont know how to work on anything then get a yfz
me prsonally love working on my she jetting/adding stuff top ends etc
although i havnt donemy shees top end i did my friends blaster and yz125 which is fun stuff
a good properly maintained shee will go a longtime without needing a new rebuild
on bansheehq a couple of guys have there stock top ends after 7 or 8 years with 120 psi comp and they beat the hel out of them but they maintain it correctly and on time
thing about the banshee is that its a twin which means when you by engine parts its usually double (pipes, reeds, carbs etc)
but stock shees arnt much to jump for joy about they are the same as a stock fappy 700
so i bought pipes,reeds,28mm carbs, clamp on style filter, TORS removal and tires so now by the time i get traction on the pavement (usually third or 4th ) the rappy is lonnnng gone
good luck
EDIT: BTW a shee is the same maintenance as any other quad just gotta make sure your jetting is right and check compression every 3 months (both of which take 5 min) i rode a yfz for a day and was as bored as riding my dads 450 kodiak, its just same power throughout the rpms and wheely then slide corner etc, where as the shee is hard to pull wheelies unless your in 3rd or so to get traction and talk about sliding corners
BTW the cost to re-build a shee doing the work yourself is prolly 1/4 the money off a 4-stroke

If you're going to be racing either cross country or motocross get the YFZ. My son started desert racing a YFZ at 14 years old. Its a good quad that doesn't require much maintenance and does good on a trail, for a race quad. If you're going to be sand dune riding get the Shee. I had a 2005 Banshee, and it is also a lot of fun. It powerslides better than the YFZ, and the powerband is more "fun" in my opinion.

dont get these comments. as far as yfz450 being for fat people i dont know about that. the banshee feels like it has more power but in reality the yfz450 make much more power it just does not fell like it as much because it is always making power where the banshee only makes power in a select rpm range. the yfz450 frame and suspestion are far better than the shee. the only reason i whould buy a shee is if i where going to build a no budgut hill killer. go for the yfz450 much better allaround quad and will smoke banshees with simular mods.
