Default 2001 Sportsman 500 HO

Hi everyone,

Thought I'd ask the expertise of you guys, for I'm a newb and not sure where to start looking. I was out plowing with my toy tonight and the thing just went dead on me. The headlights went out first, then about 2 seconds later the engine crapped out. I have no lights...nothing. I assume it's an electrical short somewhere, but it was weird how nothing led up to this, or gave me any clue of a problem. Guys....can ya throw some wisdom and insight to a stranded compadre.

Check your battery voltage they have been known to quit, especially if you use a winch alot to plow, check all the connections to the battery and selenoid.

the charging system of these bikes just keep up w/ the use of a winch alot when its not run for long times. make sure the battery is fully charged, then try to start. if battery wont hols a charge have the battery lload tested to see if its any good if it is then start looking at the recifier being bad or something else.
