I just finished my Warn 2.5ci winch install on my '05 800. Polaris got it right with the winch pre-wire on their machines. Install was straight forward and went pretty quick.

I did have one question though. In the instructions it says to locate the orange wire with the white stripe. Cut the shrink wrap off of it and hook the red wire to this from the winch control.

I located two sets of orange wires with white stripes that come out of the main harness in the same place. One is a single orange wire with a white stripe and a black plastic female spade connector. The second is two orange wires with white stripes that are paired together and shrink wrapped over what looks like a bare female spade connector. Does anyone know the difference between these two wires?

My winch control has a red wire with a male spade fitting and a clear plastic boot. I tired hooking to the single orange wire with the black plastic female spade connector. The clear boot on my red wire from the winch control fits over the black female spade connector and forms a nice seal. If I hooked to the pair of shrink wrapped orange wires it would not seal tight. I tired the winch and it seemed to work fine. Are there any difference between these two wires?

you hooked yours up to the wire i used also, have not had any problems so far. i guess we are good to go

you can use either one as long as theres power to it when the key is on. got to like the pre wire for sure.
