800 Sucks Gas
#1
Hey guys just filled up my tank from saturday's short 15+- mile trip. got a whopping 7.46 mpg. this was some slow trail riding all in high 2wd and then a little creek riding in low mixed 2wd/4wd.
though my 800 only has about 30-40 miles on it with a K&N filter so hopefully it will get better. we are going to West Va saturday so i will check it out after that.
then i will be taking it in for its break in service. i dont have my owners manual with me but what all is usually done in the break in service? my dealer said just change the oil and check everything else. but i think they should change all the fluids, grease, and change the spark plugs.

yep theres a news flash on fuel milage lol. j.k w/ ya yea the worst i got was about 8 mpg in the spring time. w/ sstock tires and set up in the warm weather you should get between 12 to 16 mpg depending on the cond. your riding in. first service is just what he said change oil/filter, and top off fluids and maybe even grease it for about $100. ripp off iimo. but theere is no other fluids to be chaged per book.

some times the twins get good gas milage but when you add bigger tires and play hard w/ them they suck down the gas. i went from 8 mpg playing, to 16 mpg riding real easy. not a problem on asking yam. questions, just figured they would know better over there.

Worst of all Polaris puts a small 4.1 gallon tank on a large gas guzzling 800 but at one time they put a large 5.25 gallon on there small 500s until 2002. Now thats logical. LOL
