I have a 97 sport It won't start. I replaced the cdi,coil,plug and it still won't start. I am getting ready to put v-force reeds in it now. But I checked the compression and it was like 60lbs. I am assume this means it needs a new top end. Can I order a new piston and rings or just rings and put it in or does it need to be honed. I also have a 38mm tmx carb that I would like to put on but it doesn't fit the rubber boot. Is there a aftermarket intake that will fit the 38mm? I haven't seen anyone that sells these carbs say anything about the intake just the filter adaptor.

get it running first b4 adding the carb and other mods, call rick ritter for a bore/ piston i sent him my jug he bored it ordered the right piston got the gaskets and sent it back in 4 days ready to assemble and if i had any questions he was only a call away

If you dont go through Ritter pull your cylinder off,take it and the old piston to the shop where you are going to have the work done and have them measure everything out and get your piston through them.It may cost more but will get you a better job.You can get by with the gasket kit off the net but be sure it is Cometic and not a real cheap one.Best bet is to use Factory gaskets.
Also dont worry about mods until you have the engine running

 

All of the above, get it going first. Undoubtedly your best bet is to call RCR, best in the biz.

Dought you get a email reply!You need to call him on the phone he is more of a personal guy than email
