To get the drive shaft off you must remove the swing arm. According to the Honda Service Manual this requires a special tool "Swingarm lock nut wrench 07908-4690003"
It looks fairly straight forward though.
Take the wheels off.
Take the rear brake off.(which looks to be a good bit of work)
Take the rear mud flaps off.
Loosen the clamp on the swingarm boot.
Remove the swingarm pivot caps.
Unhook the breather tubes from swingarm.
Unbolt the bottom of the rear shock from the swingarm.
Remove the Right pivot bolt.
Remove the Left pivot lock nut (this is where you need the special tool)
After that you should be able to remove the swingarm from the frame.
I recommend that you inspect the pivot bearings while you already have the swingarm off to avoid having to do this again later to replace bad pivot bearings. It would also be a good idea to check all your other bearings and seals while the brakes and stuff are all apart.
This overall does not look like a fun project. You might be able to cheat a bit and leave the brakes attached if you are just wanting to get at the drive shaft by simply removing the pivot bolts and lock nut and the shock bolt, but I have never done this so I don't know if that would work. If you have any doubts about your ability to do this I recommend leaving this to an experienced mechanic.
Good Luck

That is a great post! I bet the person printed it out and is in the garage right now.The only thing I would add is if you are changing the swing arm bearings just bring the old ones to a bearing supply store to make sure you get the right size.We did when working on a Yamaha and they cost alot less than bearing that would of come out of a box that had Yamaha printed on it.
