Default 400ex still smoking blue after over haul HELP!

Ok, I completely over hauled my bike, and its still smoking blue! Here is what I done from start to finish.

Features ( White brothers pipe, Hot Cam, Titanium spring keepers, and thats it).
Stock (Pretty much everything including piston)

My bike was smoking blue when I hammered the gas. It irritated me so bad that I went and bought complete gasket kit, new stock piston, valves, and all new seals. We carefully took everything down, and took our time doing everything. We put new valves, piston, rings ,gaskets and everything that goes with a new top end. We did everything we were soppose to. This was not our first rodeo. Me and a friend have both done top ends before, so we have a good idea of what we are doing.

So we get it all back together and it popped right up, but still smoking. It smokes even more now than it did before. Before, it only smoked when we hammered the throttle. Now it smokes just sitting there. We cant figure out what else there is to do. We thought it may need to be bored, but the cylinder walls looked real good. We even miked the cylinder, and it was on the money.

Any ideas?

Usually the smokeing on hard acceleration points to rings. Installed upside down, gaps lined up, end gaps too big?

When you measure your rings to trim them to size....do you put them in the cylinder or on the piston?

Did you hone it and with what? After the hone was it within spec? What was the clearance between the piston and the bore?

A few things I can think of:

#1: It does sound like you did not mic the cylinder to make sure it was within spec. To drop in a new stock piston and rings. Which if it is out of spec which it sounds like you will need to have it bored and go to a bigger piston.

#2: Also how much have you ran it so far. If you have only ran it for a few minutes. You are still burning off all the oil off the cylinder wall. Which brings up the main point it most likely is not broke in yet! Therefor the rings are not seated yet and they will still allow some blow by. Run her hard for a bit more and if it doesn't get better then I'd pull it apart once more and fallow my #1.

#3: You have installed a new cam. Have you played with the jetting yet? Could it be possible you are running extremely rich? Check your plug. That way you'll also know if your getting allot of blow by or two rich.

I was going to reply with stang302's response. It is not uncommon for it to smoke after an overhaul until everything get seated good. It may take several miles to do this.
