Crank connecting rod play

I have a broken a piston skirt and want to determine what crank rod play is acceptable. I have about a heavy1/8th inch play side to side but no up and down play on the crank rod. Is this acceptable?

thats how my 3 wheeler is side to side not up and down i would say yes cause my 3 wheeler dose the same thing and it runs good but the frame is ****
