02 Sportsman axle will not come out

Default 02 Sportsman axle will not come out

Everything I read says to remove the rear axle from the diff on my 02 Sportsman 500 you just yank it out. Well Im yanking straight out and it wont budge, any hints?

does it move back in forth a little. being its got some age on it you try to spray some penetrating oil in around the cv joint shaft and let it set. theres only cir clip that hols it in but when they get rusty and full off craft they come out hard. you may want to take a couple of pry bars on each side and while snapping on it pry at the same time. easier w/ 2 people.

Got it! Penetrating oil and time. Id spray some on and let for 15 minutes then give it 2 or 3 tugs then repeat. Kept doing that and it came loose on the third time around.

i must have "willed" off for ya lol glad its off. make sure to clean it up best you can so it will be easier next time.

Default 02 Sportsman axle will not come out

What ever it takes! The shop manual calls for a nice coat of anti seize also.
