hello, i just bought a new raptor, and im going to try to go pick it up either today or monday. ok my questions is , i had a 660 raptor in 2003 and i LOVED that bike.. ive heard that this new 700 isnt as easy to wheelie? I read that you really have to work to get the front wheels up, and my old raptor all i had to do was blip the throttle and it was a wheelie monster lol... any whay thats not too important i was just courious about it. what mods should i do right away? any quick cheap mods that i can get started with untill i have time and money for bigger better mods? thanks for any imfo, i appericate it!!!

 

I dont know where you heard that from. My 700 even before i did any modifications would stand up just the hitting the throttle. No clutching needed. My buddies 660 which is ported and polished still cannot keep up with mine due to the fact it weighs a lot more. Like i said, i have a hard time keeping the front end on the ground. thank you for the reply, i just was reading a few post here and there and it said that this new machine just didnt want to wheelie, and i love to wheelie, so im glad you cleared that up for me, i know it has more power than my old 660 but i thought mabey they changed it so that it wouldnt lift the tired as easly!! thanks for the imfo!!

 

like i said, i wouldnt worry about it. Ill sit over the handlebars and just gas it and it will stand up with all the weight on the front. My buddies 660 has to clutch it to do that. I also have a 15t sprocket on the front. Stock is 14t. So you do the math.

 

also had a 660 with a few performance mods

The 700 alot easier to wheelie and it will stay up alot easier without sputering like the 660 with double carbs

 

Thats the best part of fuel injection. NO CARBS.. I can keep mine going as long as i find the need to, never a problem of sputtering. My friend said thats one of his main complaints when doing wheelies, it will start to sputter like crazy.

 

thanks guys!!! oh man im so exited to get this quad!!! im going to do some more research, but do any of you know were i can get the fuel controller? i read that it really responds well to taking the air box lid off, but you need to install a fuel controler? is that something that i can install pretty simply? and may i ask the price for it? thanks again!!

 

I would get an ehs lid. Its similar to running an open airbox however it still gives a little protection. As far as the fuel controller. Get the pCIII. Fuelmoto.com talk to jamie. He can get you a great deal. Go to raptorforum.com for any questions. Thats where i get all my information on it.

 

Contact Dynojet, they produce the Power Commander, we have one one the R1 and it really makes it come to life. I've heard of other stock 700's that have them and they love em, I believe they are just plug in and go, but you can custom tune em too.
