Default Help with installing hand guards

Hi, I am having some trouble installing my hand guards on my sportsman x2 on the left side. The right side I got just fine. It just doesn't want to line up right. I installed them on my 2004 sportsman without the winch and it was fine but now with the winch setup in the way I don't know exactly how it should go. If you have any pictures of yours with this it would help me alot. Or just tell me how it should go. I jhave some pictures but am not sure how to post them on here. Thanks in advance Mark

Put the poo ones on mine but has been a while. If remember right there are some longer bolts in kit to be used and it goes through the winch switch also. At work now so can't take a walk out to the garage. But thinking I had to do some tinkering with the left also.

It's as easy as unbolting the two bolts, and then bolting in the two new bolts that are supplied in the handguard kit (the longest ones if you have the winch bracket) then torque them down. Then remove the harness plugs underneith and and slide the handguard bracket on and tighten down the lock nuts and then plug the harness back in. Here are three pics of how mine are installed.

Hope this helps.

Looks like it is bolt heat, winch switch bracket, spacer on front with the short bolt
On back is bolt heat, winch switch bracket, spacer also with the nut on bottom.

Have some pics of mine.

Do you have any side ways pictures with the brake lever in it? My brake gets in the way. I had to drill out the bottom plastic peice because the wasen't big enough for the long bolt. Now my only problem is it gets hung up on the brake lever.

The hand guards were changed for the 06-07 model year. I bought a set for an 05 and earlier for my 07 and they would not work. I think they redesigned the brake caliper assembly to put more angle to it. If you check out my photo gallery you will see how i modified them to work. I hit some pretty big branches this past Sunday with no problem in the way i modified it.

That explains alot. I have the 06 handguards trying to put them on a 07. Do you have anymore pictures or can you take some on how you customized them? That one is a little hard to see in your profile? Thanks Mark
