I am thinking about buying a 400ex for riding trails and a little bit of dunes, so could anyone tell me about how they like it and how good it is

 

The 400EX is a well respected veteran that will serve you well in those environments. Being liquid cooled, a little more powerful engine, better stock suspension and having the same MSRP, you may want to look at the Suzuki Z400 also. Tons of threads hashing each of these quads out, although you may have to look back a bit in the archives as newer, faster models get most of the attention these days. You should be happy with either, and if you are looking used there are a million 400EX's out there.

 

That is why i am looking at the 400ex is because there is a lot for sale in my area that are only one or two years old for a good price. I also looked for others like the z400 and there was not a single one.

 

My only complaint is the stock front shocks, and maybe that it is a lil cold blooded.

great machine otherwise. It is fast enough to get yer heart pumpin, yet you can still putt around in the lower gears and look at scenery..

I am still a kid at heart though, so I removed the airbox lid, k&n filter with outerwear, jetted the carb and an FMF slip on, for those times that I think I am young again![img]i/expressions/devil.gif[/img] And after that found out that is a 440 with stage 2 cam....[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

i had a brand new 05 model for a few days before selling it to my cuz,i wanted to get a blaster because i like the yamaha two stroke family. my parents got it for me but i would rather pick my own out, but as for the EX i liked the power and i liked the stylish plastics, but i hated the stock tires, you might like them but i need a little bit more on the tread for my kinda riding. all and all it is a great quad and wont break down every time you ride it, lord knows my blaster did. LOL im missing that EX already.
