Default awd question 2000 sportsman 500

I was being an idiot and flipped my sportsman on a frozen lake. it flipped hard, broke both racks, headlight pod, and messed up the speedometer. i fixed the racks, but the major problem is that the awd is intermitant. and the last 2 times i tried, it didnt work at all. it has got to be an electrical connection somewhere, but i dont know where to start.

when the quad flipped the plug that goes into the awd switch was pulled out, but it is firmly back in place. i inspected the connection and it looked good to me, full of silicone.

this quad only has 14 hours on it (no joke, i bought it 6 months ago with 6 hours and 54 original miles.) not bad for an 8 year old sporty!

any help is GREATLY appreciated.

If its the Speedo with the digital odometer, trip and hour meter it has to work for the AWD to work. Do a seach on this site and there is a way to by pass the speedo wirring so you do not need to by a $350 speedo to have AWD.

Dumbest idea Polaris had was incorporating the "first to go in a roll over" speedometer into the operation of the awd.

my speedo does have the digital trip and hour meter. where the hours used to be displayed, it is either blank or flashing weird numbers. i am betting it is definitely the speedo. plus it doesnt tell me how fast i am going.

i guess i didnt think the 2000 had that speedo in it. shows how much i knew lol. yea most likely the speedo does need replacing. i think like the brown wire like on number 16 pin is the key to the awd. but dont quote me on it.

well i have already spent about 400 bucks replacing the racks and headlight pod, i may as well buy a new speedo off ebay for another 200. that was a pretty expensive powerslide.

I been there, I rode our 97 SP500 end over end 4 revolutions. Had to replace the front rack pod and speedo and all 4 tires peeled off. One our green 97 thought it has the old analog speedo that was only $150 new and had nothing to do with the operation off the AWD. Polaris should of kept the set up.
