My service manual doesnt say how much oil is recommended for the front and final gear boxes. So I figured I would check with the pros on here. Also, any recommendations on oil are also welcomed.

Usually they say to fill to the threads.

 

My fear is that if I over-fill I will blow gaskets and all that good stuff.

 

Fill to the bottom of the threads

Mantastic! Thanks Steve. Also, what synthetic would you recommend? I am thinking about getting Castrol Syntec 75W90 or should I just get the original SAE 80 GL-4 Hypoid gear oil?

 

I run the Valvoline semi-syntheic (I think they call it Dura-blend) 80W90 mostly because it states that it is for Hypoid gears. I have been told that the Mobil 1 and the Castrol Syntec 75W90 is just fine too.. but.. they do not specifically state they are for Hypoid gears. So to save face (warranty wise) I am using the Valvoline 80w90 semi-syn until warranty runs out then I will go with a full synthetic.
