It stands for Single Over Head Cam. It means that the camshaft is positioned on top of the head over the valves and that one cam activates both the exhaust and intake valves.

You are right about the AC250. AC makes the engines for the H1 650 and the 700 carb model. I am not sure about the H2 Thundercat but I think they do. The rest of the newer models except for the V2 which is a Kawasaki are Suzuki engines.

scooter Kymco did build engine's for some of the early 2x4 model AC's , but after Suzuki bought part of AC stock Suzuki begain suppling Engine's for the big Arctic Cat's ; AC started fazing out Kymco Engine's !

And the Thunder Cat 1000 has a 950cc Engine made by Arctic Cat , the 400 , 500 , 700 EFI are Suzuki engine , and the 650 HI is an AC engine ; the 650 V2 was a Kawasaki twin cylinder engine !

I don't know the year that Kynco , was fazed out they still supplied engine's for the small Cat's a year or so after Suzuki began supplying their engine's for AC ; and i think Kymco has once again started supplying engine's for the small AC's but don't qote me on this one because i'm not sure it's true !

It's just that i over heard a customer talking about this when i was at my Dealership 2 week's ago , but everyone know's how Rumor's get started ; and snow ball out of control once they get started !

The last time i was at the Dealership about a month ago they had just recieved 4 of the new 2008 Thunder Cat 1000 model , but i didn't even get to test drive one ; i didn't even get to sit on one they were sold before the first shipment came in !

They were expecting another shipment to come in may or june , supply and demand is what's taking so long for shipment's ; that's what my Dealer told me why she only recieved 4 unit's and she's the largest AC Dealer in the tri state area !.....
