EFI or H.O. - Which has better acceleration?

I'm kicking around buying a new 500. Not sure about the EFI though. Is the $1,000 upgrade worth it? I have a friend with a 500 HO. Will he be able to beat me?

if you know how to tune a carburetor, you shouldn't have a big problem starting it in the cold, and also if you can tune a carb, you shouldn't see much difference between the machines, they should both run really close.

I have a 500X2 and with the EFI and better clutching it will outrun my buddies lighter 500 HOs!</end quote></div>
Do you mean for top end, bottom end, or both?
A lot of guys, who have clutched, once they pull a head of their buddy back off rather than seeing if he has equal or better top end.

Ive been thinking about this very same thing, And Mongrol got me to thinking the other day about Atv with fuel Inj VS Carbed models, I would really hate to be 25 miles out the woods and have an ECM go out on me, Alot of older atvs had only a stator and coil Ignition, Like my old honda wont quit even if the battery goes dead, i can kick start it, My hawkeye is the same but a rope pull, Now if i got a fuel injected atv it probally wont ever break but that one time it does i could be 25 miles out in the woods, so Im staying with the simple stuff, I would go with the carbed model 500 HO there is only a 2hp difference I think.
