Default EFI or H.O. - Which has better acceleration?

So your main concern is being beat by another 500?

Dunno, but for 1k you could sure get some nice accessories.</end quote></div>

I wouldn't say main concern, and not neccessarily to beat him - although it would keep me drier - but more of a comment on the power. I like my 400 but the 500 has considerably more power. I wish I would have spent the extra $600 back then for the HO. I would surely fix the one I have now.

I used to have a 700, and now have a non-EFI 500 and don't miss the power. While the EFI has its benefits, I still like the simpler and proven carb'd version.

If you want to beat him ask your dealer about the drag race option.</end quote></div>

Are you pullin' my leg?

I did see a "chip" for the 500 EFI. It says it adds 25hp.

I'm not a dealer so don't know for sure but thats probably it, but is anyone willing to pay what its worth to beat the other guy?

Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?

I have a Sportsman 500 EFI and love it. I brought it home and it was -15 C and it started right up and ran like a charm.

I have a 500 H.O and a 700 EFI and I have to ask...why not buy the EFI? It starts better and runs better. It is no comparison. Are you using it strictly for drag racing? Who cares if one or the other is a 1/2 a length ahead at the end of a 1/4 mile stretch? After having 2 EFI snowmobiles now I knew when I was upgrading the wheeler it was going to be an EFI. I also plan on bringing it to other parts of the country (with different elevations) and I know the EFI is going to run perfect. Just my .02!

If I were to do it over again I would go carb. I have an 07 800 that has a hiccup on wot acceleration. I think it is throttle position sensor. Dealer want's 100.00 to just put it on machine to test. I would go carb easier to work on.
