96mph possible on modded 450r?
#1
I have a friend with a 450r who says he got clocked at 96mph and he wasn't even topped out completely. He says he his mods are higher rpm limit, 14:1 wiseco piston (if that even exists) and pipe and regearing.
Is it possible to get a 450r past 96mph with those mods AND still be able to wheelie in 5th gear?

in not 100% on this but with the mods u listed I see maybe 85mph bacause I know they max stock at about 75mph and most rev boxes give u at most 10 more mph. but to get that extra speed u need more power a rev box on a stock motor is lucky to give u 5 mph over stock. Do u know how tall his rear tires, if he has a bigger front sprocket or smaller rear sprocket, and more mods on the motor.

I think it would take a serious gearing change...... top speed is all in the gearing, with any vehicle...... and with gearing that high I would think the thing would have no bottom end at all

with super tall gearing, would it be possible to hit 100mph with near race spec motor and still be able to wheelie just by pulling up? (just not the extreme cams and race porting. Say just stage 1 or 2 cams (out of 3 or 4 stages) and a trailport job?)

The best gearing I've seen is available through Sparks, and gives you a ratio of 2.2 (15/33). So I guess you could come close if you don't run out of motor, but you lose power after about 8500-9000 RPM. Generally that is where you peak and at 9500-11000, you aren't going to pick up the front end for a couple reasons at 100MPH. One is that you have more downforce on the front of the bike holding it down which makes it even harder to lift, and the other is that at that speed if you were able to wheelie, you would most likely flip the bike since you have 100MPH worth of force rushing underneath of your bike and lifting the front end up and over, basically flipping the bike under that force. Most race ready bikes weigh in the 350-370 range and consider riders from 150-240 lbs, so a total weight of 500 to 610 lbs altogether. I would not WANT to be riding a wheelie after 3rd gear in the first place, and I would definetely not use my racing bike to do this with just in case something did happen in 4th or 5th gear, thats a harder crash that I want to think about.

if hes got the motor to pull high enough gears it is possible. I would be a little worried about running that fast on OFF ROAD use tires, they will blow a belt at that high of speeds.

Crazy1291,
First, that 450r will not pulls a wheelie in fifth gear. If anyone says that, they may need to be cut off from the beer. About the 96mph. Some people like to say this. I've been clocked. Who clocked him? Right.. It's possible if there more to that motor than just a 14:1 which does exist. He's need at least 55 to 60 horses to get some where around 95. So. First ask him what grade fuel he is running. If it's not 105 or higher than he is BSing ya. 14:1 needs at least that if not 110 straight up. That's crazy compression. It's it eletric or kickstart? He ain't kick starting that motor too easily if it's a 14:1. Anways, check this site out and it will answer some questions. Take Care and Ride Hard!

I believe top speed for the 450R stock is 78. I would have to agree with the orhter folks here, without some serious gear changes, 96 is not happening. I think with the HRC I can top out around the high 80's, not that I would know as I don't exactly carry the GPS in my pocket, but I have had it pegged a few times...
