Default Plastics on Black Rancher 420

About two months ago, I trailered my Rancher to my hunting camp. I covered it with a tarp to avoid salt and gravel on the wonderful roads in PA. Although I protected it from the salt and gravel, the tarp scratched the hell out of the plastics. All four corners of the Rancher are completely faded and hazy. Is there anything that can be done to bring back the black?

I know that make plastic buffing system. Basically start a little coarse and then work up to the finer grits. Then add a high quality polish. Check Meguiars. This is why I chose not to get the black Rancher. It looks bad @ss coming off the showroom floor but soon afterwards those scratches come from everywhere.

I'll have to look into that. I tried polish without a buffer. I am afraid a buffer will destroy it as there is no clear coat on the plastics.

I have not buffed mine out yet but I have buffed vehicles for years. The plastics are colored all the way through so unlike a base coat/clear coat paint job you should be able to buff your heart out and not burn through the color. But like I said, I have not done mine yet to make sure this works. I am going to try a cleaner wax or a chemicle based abrasive (very smooth almost no abrasives) and low speed first. If that dosn't work then I'll try some regular compounds and higher speeds on the buffer. But I don't think you can burn through it although you can probably smear the finish pretty good with too much speed and heat. I would also tape up or some how cover the other black plastic on the bike before buffing. Compound will never come off if you get it on the plastic around the foot wells or fender flairs. Good luck.

If you get around to buffing yours, let me know how it worked out.
