Default Valve Job Woes

I just had a valve job done on my head. Also installed 11.5:1 piston and thicker than stock head gasket to get to 11.2:1. Got everything back together this week. When I started correcting the valve clearance, I had no clearance on the exhaust valves. Found out that I need a shim thinner than any standard ones made (smallest shim I have found is 0.2mm). I ground the two exhaust shims about 15 thousands but still no clearance. The shims are now only 0.076" (.193mm) thick and if I go thinner the cam is going to hit the bucket. My intake valve shims are borderline being out of range (I think they are 0.085" or .215mm) which kills my valve job life.

I would think that after having a valve job done I would not have this problem. What is your opinion?

Now I am down for more weeks probably which really sucks. I am missing a riding trip this weekend because of it. I don't know if the head gasket is reusable or not so there is possibly more money down the drain. Plus all the time it takes to remove the head and ship it back out. Anyone have any advice or had this happen before?

First I don't own a DS.
But I think the valves got sunk too deep in the head. An automotive head will do this if you sink the valves to deep. No clearance.

Default Valve Job Woes

I had the same problem recently, what happend is my valve seats were so wore by the time the recut them and recut the valves to much material was taken off..... which made the valves super tight!

heres what I did, I took my shims AND BUCKETS to a machine shop. I had the shims ground thinner along with the lip around the top of the bucket. I had no problems with it for a full season. it will work, or buy new valve seats!!!!!!
