Welcome to the forum jfells!

I would expect some noise going from a non oring to a oring. (oring chain is wider than a non o ring) Any ideas where the noise is coming from?

Does it make the noise just pushing it? (engine off)

you sure the chain is right and its not meshing w/ the sprockets and grinding. look at it to see if its all shiney from actual grinding. O ring chain are great on street bikes, but think they would get eaten up by the mud and did fast.

O-ring chains are excellent for mud and dirt. I use one on all of my dirt bikes.

Well not all of them....the XR75 and Mini trail have non oring chains.

If the sprockets are worn to the oring chain that could cause your noise.I like the O ring chains in dirt and mud that wont stretch as much as a nonOring.I do like the non Orings on my Harley due to the clearances.

i AGREE,SPROCKET WEAR WOULD BE THE CULPRIT. I alwas replaced the sprockets when replacing the chain. New chain most likely is not meshing with the old/wore sprockets!!!!!
